With Black History Month starting this month, three sneaker companies used black history to inspire their latest shoe collection line. Nike, Under Armour and Adidas jump started the celebration of Black History Month with exclusive releases of signature shoes and apparel. Endorsing athletes have had their signature line of shoes revamped with new color ways, imprints and references that incoporate the celebration of Black History Month. The Adidas collection is spearheaded by Kareem Abdul Jabbar and the inspiration that he has provided to the world not only as a basketball player but also as a humanitarian, civil rights activist and educator. The proceeds from the Adidas collection will go to the Jabbar’s Skyhook Foundation (founded in 2010), which improves the lives of disadvantaged and impoverished youths. A percentage of the sales from the Nike products will go to the Ever Higher Fund, a fund that uses sports to benefit under served youth. A unique collection from each company, elaborate colors and redefined styles make each of these shoes unique.
