25 years ago today, March 4, 1990, college basketball star Hank “The Bank” Gathers of Loyola Marymount University died on the court of a heart ailment. Soaring to the hoop to finish an alley oop slam dunk, Gathers scored his final points of his life and suddenly collapsed seconds later.
Maximizing life, loving what you do and allowing your life to be inspired by your passion is what Hank Gathers did, truly embodying the heart of a lion. Although Hank is no longer with us, his spirit and legacy lives on forever.
