The essence of music is the fact that it touches you. The right song, the right hook, a certain lyric will touch you in a way that only GOD can touch your spirit. Musicians are blessed with the innate ability to create life through music. Whether it is a singer, instrumentalist, producer or rapper the ability to connect to a person’s mind through sound is a special ability that only a chosen few are blessed with. In the mid 1990’s Mo B. Dick (Raymond Poole) , KLC (Craig Lawson), Craig B (Craig Bazile) & Odell (Odell Vickers) teamed up to form Beats By The Pound (now The Medicine Men) and joined forces with Mo B. Dick’s cousin Master P to power the tank, No Limit Records to become one of the most successful music companies of all time. From Louisiana, Beats By The Pound created an original style, infused with the musical backgrounds and individual talents of each of its members that introduced the world to a new sound of instrumentation and harmonies, that paired with an arsenal of amazing artists created music that is timeless. Mo B. Dick, from Morgan City is one of the founding members of Beats By The Pound and was not only responsible for a lot of the tracks, but also was a vocalist on many of No Limit’s tracks during the time Beats By The Pound produced for No Limit Records (1995-1999). Mo B. Dick released his first solo album, “Gangsta Harmony” in 1999 and since then has released 5 other solo efforts, most recently “Signature: The Anthology” in 2014. Recently Mo B. Dick spoke with ESHE Magazine about his career, the process for how Beats By The Pound created the No Limit sound, a forthcoming documentary on No Limit and upcoming projects by Beats By The Pound.
