As time passes and people and laws attempt to erase parts of Black History, it is important to understand that the withholding of history from future generations creates a society thats lacks the knowledge of the past triumphs and failures. Slavery in the United States of America has been decimated over the years, even to the point of being labeled as work being performed by indentured servants. The fact is that slavery of Africans and Black people in the United States of America was indeed harsh, cruel, unjust and brutal. Slaves by United States laws were only considered 3/4 of a person. Even though valued with no regard, slaves themselves still felt the need to value not only their lives, but the lives of their loved ones.
