UCONN Huskies Win 12th NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship

The UCONN Huskies women’s basketball team defeated the University of South Carolina Gamecocks 82-59 to win the program’s twelfth NCAA championship.

The route to the championship for the Huskies was filled with dominance. UCONN finished the season with an overall record of 37-3. Head coach Coach Geno Auriemma, the winningest coach in NCAA Division I history, has been at the helm for all twelve UCONN national titles. Graduate guard Azzi Rudd was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player after finishing the championship game with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and one assist.

The Huskies defeated their opponents by an average of 32.8 points per game en route to their 12th NCAA title.
