17 years ago today, May 1, 1998 Spike Lee’s “He Got Game” was released in theaters. Starring Ray Allen (Jesus Shuttlesworth) and Denzel Washington (Jake Shuttlesworth) this classic film dives into the life of the number high school basketball player in the country and gives people a detailed glimpse as to the world that many elite, highly sought after prospects live on a day to day basis, in addition to all of the positives and negatives that are present. An amazing soundtrack from Public Enemy carries this movie through each scene, authenticating the street, the roundball and the people that are acting out this story. “He Got Game” is a must see for every basketball player.
