The Los Angeles Urban League hosted its annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. awards dinner, to celebrate individuals that had made a tremendous impact in the South Los Angeles community and various communities across the nation.
The Los Angeles Urban League helps African Americans and others in underserved communities achieve their highest true social parity, economic self-reliance, power, and civil rights. The League promotes economic empowerment through education and job training, housing and community development, workforce development, entrepreneurship, health, and quality of life (via Laul.org). Hosted in Beverly Hills, California at The Beverly Hilton, the dinner honored four individuals.
Journalist and business executive Paula Madison (CEO of Madison Media Management) was honored along with Martin Muoto (founder & managing partner of SoLa Impact) and Sekou Kaalund (executive vice president of US Bank). Bishop T.D. Jakes (Chairman & CEO of T.D. Jakes Group) was the keynote guest of the evening.
