I was 9 years old when I spotted a guy who I thought was Dick Barnett shooting baskets behind Roosevelt High School in 1955. My older brother Joseph C. Chapman, Jr., MD (Howard University College of Medicine 1963) was in the same high school graduating class at Roosevelt. The guys I was with didn’t believe me and dared me to prove it by asking him for his autograph. I of course was right when he got down on his knees on the court and signed my piece of paper “Dick Barnett”!
