The journey of life will carry one to destinations that enable change. Experiences, interactions and life lessons can lay the foundation for a person to serve a purpose to others in this world. Charmeka T. Smith is a person that has used her journey as a source of inspiration through the power of words. Smith recently released her latest book, “Reflections Of A Queen,” and she talked to ESHE about her journey and impact as an author.
David Jordan Jr: You’ve published two books as an author. Can you tell us about your journey that led to you authoring pieces of literature?
Charmeka T. Smith: I used to buy a lot of prayer books in the past every month. Then one day my former coworker told me that I could write my own. I started texting people prayers and writing down a few prayers.
David Jordan Jr: Your first published work “New Beginnings” was released in 2022 and your most recent release “Reflections of a Queen” was released in January of 2024. Both of these books place an emphasis on the importance of self and how important prayer and the power of GOD is to one’s life. What have you learned about yourself during the process of writing both of these books?
Charmeka T. Smith: During this process I’ve learned to trust myself more. After publishing the first book, I was nervous about who would buy the book and would people enjoy it. But I had to remember that I’m doing this for God, and I shouldn’t be nervous when doing his work.
David Jordan Jr: What inspires you as an author?
Charmeka T. Smith: Helping others inspires me. You never know who is paying attention to you. And it makes me feel better when people say that my book has encouraged them in some way.
David Jordan Jr: Reflections of a Queen is inspirational and uplifting in its content for the reader. What makes this book a must read for women?
Charmeka T. Smith: I think this is a good read because it will encourage women that are going through anything. The book is positive in all ways. It will put a smile on your face and keep you encouraged to keep going and be strong.
David Jordan Jr: What is the best piece of advice you’ve received and whom did it come from that has enables you to become the woman that you are today?
Charmeka T. Smith: Keep on writing and never give up! I’ve heard this from multiple people. I was only going to write one book but I decided to keep on writing. Now I have three more books in the works right now. I guess I have a lot more to say than what I originally thought.
