Filmmaker D.R. Bellard Discusses The Arts And His Latest Film

The art of filmmaking has the power to connect people from all walks of life through everyday moments and experiences. A person’s life journey will bring them to experience all the emotions of love, anger, resentment, joy, and loss. The power of film can let a person not only see a character’s everyday life on screen, but also see themselves in the portrayal. Filmmaker D.R. Bellard has uniquely captured life across various aspects of the arts. As a trained actor, writer, producer, and director, Bellard has shot ten films depicting many parts of life, while also appearing on camera and on theater stages as an actor.

Hailing from Houston, Texas, Bellard has starred in multiple theater productions, independent films, national commercials, and music videos.

 

Since 2017, he has written & directed nine short films (three award-winning) & he’s best known as a writer/director for his emotionally dramatic short film “Shot by an Angel” and is a Merit Award winner in the “Hollywood Best Shorts” Competition. “D.R. Bellard’s Shot By An Angel”, recently released, is his first full-length indie feature film based on the award-winning short.

He’s a 10-year U.S. Air Force veteran, former NASA and Boeing employee, and owner and CEO of his production company, Narrow Path Productions Intl. Corp LLC, with an associate’s degree in Logistics from the Community College of the Air Force, a graduate of Theater of Arts Hollywood Performing Arts School with an Occupational Studies degree in Theatre, and also a graduate of New York Film Academy (Los Angeles) with an Associate Degree of Fine Arts in filmmaking.

Bellard recently spoke to ESHE about the arts, their impact on his life, and his latest film.
