The 3rd Annual Golf with Jake event, hosted by 1880 Capital, successfully took place on August 3rd, bringing together community members, philanthropists, and golf enthusiasts to support the Swim With Mike Foundation. This year’s tournament not only celebrated the spirit of the game but also focused on creating opportunities for physically challenged athletes through the Jake Olson 1880 Capital Endowed Scholarship. The event achieved its goal of raising funds towards a $50,000 endowment, ensuring that future students can pursue their academic and athletic dreams with the support they need. Every golfer, sponsor, and supporter played a vital role in making a lasting impact on the lives of these courageous individuals. Swim With Mike, founded in honor of former USC swimmer Mike Nyeholt, provides scholarships to empower physically challenged athletes in overcoming adversity. This year’s tournament held special significance, showcasing the inspiring journey of Jake Olson. Diagnosed with retinoblastoma as a child, Jake lost his eyesight at age twelve but persevered, becoming the first totally blind Division I college football player as the long snapper for USC. His story embodies the resilience and determination that the Swim With Mike Foundation represents. As a Swim With Mike scholarship recipient, Jake experienced the profound impact the foundation had on his life. The Golf with Jake event was created to give back and ensure that future physically challenged athletes have access to similar opportunities and support. This year’s tournament was more than just a day on the course; it was a celebration of courage, inclusion, and the transformative power of sports. The success of the event will continue to resonate as we work to empower and uplift the next generation of athletes.
