Director, Writer, and Producer LazRael Lison Talks Hulu’s Finding Faith and His Career Journey
By David Jordan Jr
The journey of life will take an individual through every emotion known to man. Happiness, sadness, anxiety, and rediscovery are all aspects of life we encounter at some point. The mercy, grace, and everlasting wisdom of God enable a person to continue on the journey of life with hope for each new day they see on this earth. Director, writer, and producer LazRael Lison has experienced these things in his life journey and has used his platform as a filmmaker to show life in a way that resonates with all audiences. As an award-winning director and writer, he has won various awards and has ten feature films to his credit. He is the co-founder of Sumer House Pictures (based in Los Angeles, California), a production company that is focused on elevated, commercial, audience-forward storytelling.
Lison has produced films with A&E Network/Lifetime and Paramount Global/BET, with additional releases on Netflix and Amazon. His work has also been distributed through Grindstone and Gravitas, further broadening its streaming reach to Hulu. In addition to his film career, he is the author of Neighborhood of Dreams, published in 2019. His latest film, FINDING FAITH (Summer House Pictures), which he wrote, directed, and produced, stars Paula Patton, Loretta Devine, Stephen Bishop, Nadine Velazquez, Demetrius Grosse, and Keith David. Released theatrically in June 2025, the film was later acquired by Lifetime, where it premiered before expanding to Hulu.
He recently spoke with ESHE about his journey as a filmmaker, the production and cast of “FINDING FAITH,” the impact of faith-based films, and two new feature films on track for production later this year.
