Indiana State University Associate Head Coach Jason Pruitt On Building Programs And Championships

Jason Pruitt, Associate Head Coach of the Indiana State University women’s basketball program, started his head coaching career at Bethesda University. During his career at Bethesda he led the program to national prominence as they were the National Runner in the NCCAA Tournament in 2015, while winning the West Region Coach Of The Year, coached the West Region Player of The Year, Newcomer Of The Year & The Defensive Player Of The Year.
Pruitt continued his successful coaching journey by building the first ever women’s basketball program at then NAIA, University of Antelope Valley, where in his first game, he led them to a victory over Division I Pepperdine University. That season would end with the University of Antelope Valley winning the conference championship and being ranked in the top ten in the national polls. The University of La Verne would be the recipient of Pruitt’s continued success, as he took a losing program and turned it into a national contender, leading the University of La Verne women’s basketball team to their first conference championship in nearly twenty years, while also being ranked in various top 25 national polls.
Now the associate women’s basketball coach at Indiana State University, after one year at Elmhurst University, Coach Pruitt continues to build on a legacy filled with many championships, all-conference players, professional players, graduates, and successful journeys attributed to his leadership.
Coach Pruitt talked to ESHE about his coaching journey and how he built Bethesda University into a contender for the National Championship.
